Chris hall is about to step on the scene with an exciting and new sound. He is made up of 80’s funk, jazz and gospel, with a splash of hip hop. This newfangled sound that he has made his own is certain to gain interest from across the world.The development of his unique style is the result of a lifetime of musical influence. Growing up in a very talented musical circle of friends and family meant that Chris was always surrounded by different forms of music. His friends directed and sung in various choirs and groups, and his parents exposed him to a wealth of music as a child, all of which influenced his development.His foray into learning an instrument came when he started to play piano by ear at just 7 years old. Later he began to play drums, which he continued with for four years before finally going back to the piano, a decision he has never looked back from.Chris’ musical journey began in Raleigh, N.C., it was here he developed his musical tastes and interest. While play the piano he also experimented with play drums which had a profound influence on the direction of his musical journey.After realizing that writing music was his main goal, he began to showcase his talent at various churches and venues across North Carolina.He is keen to point out that everything he listens to directs his musical development in some way. However, he would certainly include John Coltrane, Stevie Wonder, Grover Washington, Fred Hammon, Kirk Franklin, Ray Charles, Aerosmith, Journey, The System, Jon Bonjovi, Guy, and James Brown as amongst his biggest influences.SED IN RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA, THIS POETIC/EMCEE BEGAN HIS JOURNEY IN THE LATE 80'S. RAY D'YO LAMAJ ADOPTED ONE OF FIVE FINGERS OF HIP HOP FROM THE INFLUENCE OF SUCH ARTISTS AS DOUG E. FRESH, BIZ MARKIE, BUFFY AND READY ROCK C. INDEED, THE BEATBOX BECAME A HEARTBEAT. WHEN HIP HOP CONTINUED TO GROW AND BRANCH OUT, RAY D'YO BEGAN TO TRAVEL ALONG A SEPERATE YET PARALLEL PATH WITH WRITING. SINCE MIDDLE SCHOOL, THE WRITING SKILLS BEGAN TO NURISH YET STILL WAS MISSING SOMETHING. BEGINING HIS PRODUCTION SKILLS IN '04, RAY D'YO LAMAJ DEVELOPED A SOUND SO BLENDED, THE LIKENESS OF TIMBALAND, DR. DRE, THE DUNGEON FAMILY, ERIC SERMON, RZA, KANYE WEST, EAST, WEST AND SOUTHERN SOUNDS, CAN BE HEARD WITH A FRESH, UNIQUE STYLE THAT CAN CAUSE AN UPRISING. WITH THE AGE OF DIGITAL MEDIA, INTERNET AND RINGTONES THERE IS ONE THING THAT IS FOR SURE... Turn Up Your Ray D Yo's.....
